The End of a Season

There are seasons in our lives:

Defined by age:
child, teen, young adult, middle age, senior citizen

Defined by ministry:
serving, teaching, writing, praying

Defined by role:
follower, leader, encourager

Lord, teach me to move from season to season–just as spring grows into summer, summer turns into fall, fall fades into winter, winter bursts into spring. Teach me to let go when you say, “the end.”

Out with the Old Season, In with the New

Song of Solomon 2:11-12 (ESV)
Behold, the winter is past . . .
The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come.

Welcome, Spring. We’ve been waiting for you.

All-Season Sprinkler

Do you feel like you’re in a dry season? Try the water of the Word.

Psalm 1:2-3 (VOICE)
For you, the Eternal’s Word is your happiness.
It is your focus—from dusk to dawn.
You are like a tree,
planted by flowing, cool streams of water
that never run dry.
Your fruit ripens in its time;
your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun.

More than a sprinkle . . . turn on the firehose!

Tis the Season to Give God the Credit

Spring is coming. How do you know?

  • Birds are singing
  • Snow is melting
  • More daylight
  • It’s St, Patrick’s Day

Happens every year around this time.

Daniel 2:21 (NIV)
Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever . . . He changes times and seasons . . . He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

Spring always follows winter. Wise and discerning folks give God the credit.

The Only Safe Shelter

Floods, shootings, crashes, blizzards.

Is there no safe space?

Psalm 91:1 (NLT)
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Wherever we are, whatever the trouble surging around us, there is safe shelter in your shadow, Lord God. Thank you for being here, no matter what, all the time.

God, Not Green

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Worship the Creator, not the creation.

God’s Green Plan, Short and Simple

Genesis 2:15 (NLT)
The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

Tend your corner of the world.
Care for it.
Make wise use of it.

Our Father’s Green World

“This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas—
  His hand the wonders wrought”

My Green Prayer

Almighty God, I know my actions won’t make or break the planet. But I want to take good care of it, out of gratitude and respect for the wonders of your creation.

Whose Green Deal

What’s your take on the future of our planet?

  • We’re killing it, inch by inch
  • It’s come this far, it’ll keep going
  • I’m OK, and that’s enough for me

Psalm 24:1 (NIV)
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

Our planet is His planet. He created it. And us. It’s the original green deal.
