Jerusalem’s Safety and Peace

As we celebrate Christ’s Palm-Sunday ride into Jerusalem, we should obey this Biblical instruction:

Psalm 122:6 (ESV)
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Not sure how to pray? Try these suggestions from One for Israel‘s website:

“For the Holy Spirit to convict all the people of the city about sin, righteousness, and the judgment to come (John 16:8) so that they can find truth and forgiveness in Yeshua – for people of all walks of life to find real peace with God through Yeshua

Pray against violence, and for peace and hope on the streets of Jerusalem, and against fear – that more and more would come to trust in God and find peace and love that casts out fear

For integrity in the governmental institutions and for those in positions of responsibility to walk in righteousness – for God to root out corruption

For God to raise up those who can be a witness in these high levels of Israeli society – people like the prophet Daniel

Please pray for our leaders – for the right people to be given the right positions, and for God’s wisdom that leads to peace and justice

For the Jewish and Arab believers in Jerusalem to truly love one another, and to love their enemies as well

For the destructive plans of the enemy to be thwarted, and for God’s perfect plans to come to pass”

Make it so, Lord. Amen!

My All or Nothing.

Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
I can do all this through him
who gives me strength.

John 5:30
By myself I can do nothing.

Belong with Strong

“Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak, but He is strong.”

Big and old to Him belong. They can be weak, too.

Strength for the Frail

Sometimes it’s the oldest and most frail saints who lead the way. They know (as did the Apostle Paul) the source of their strength.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
[God] said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

God’s grace. Our strength.

Simple Stretches

When God moves you outside your comfort zone, he’s stretching your spiritual muscles.

It’s physical therapy for your soul.

Body and Soul

Which is stronger, your body or your soul?

  • My body’s pretty fragile
  • My body is tough
  • I’m all around weak

A strong soul can support a fragile body. A strong body will never make up for a fragile soul.

Safe Shelter by a Landfill

Around the world, some of the poorest people live near or on garbage dumps. New Life Nicaragua decided to do something about it.

“In 2009, NLN began a new ministry in Cristo Rey, a barrio set near a landfill and engulfed in extreme poverty. Many people lacked the basic needs of shelter, water, and electricity. We built the first home there in 2010, and have since constructed over 300 homes.”

Lord God, our hearts go out to the dear people who dwell in such desperate places. Raise up more organizations like NLN. Give them the vision and resources to provide safe spaces for families, in Jesus’ name.

A Fool’s Price

“What fools are they who,
for a drop of pleasure,
drink a sea of wrath.”
Thomas Watson, 1620-1686

Is the pleasure worth the price?

Simply Foolish

Psalm 53:1 (NIV)
The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”

If God is real, he doesn’t need your OK to exist. You, on the other hand, might need his.

Foolish and Factless

Proverbs 18:13 (NLT)
Spouting off before listening to the facts
is both shameful and foolish.

I don’t want to be factless and foolish, Lord. Teach me to close my mouth and open my ears.
