Bless Those Reluctant Readers

Lots of people find reading to be hard work. I call them “reluctant readers.” Many of them lack the ability to scan. They start at the top and work their way down the page, reading every word.

I scan without thinking. I search for a specific Bible verse, barely noticing the surrounding text. Imagine reading every word between the top of the page and the verse you’re looking for. Imagine that every word is hard work.

Now you know why they’re reluctant.

Shirlee, Although we’ve known each other a short time, I believe you know me well enough to know that I am in that 1% of population who LOVE words – reading them, writing them, etc. Especially the Word. His Word.
I oftentimes go back over and over again if I read something in my Bible that strikes a chord with me (sort of like putting your car in reverse when backing up!)
But, having said all of that, you are speaking the absolute capital “T” truth when you write, “Lots of people find reading to be hard work.” Yup

Many people hide their reading problems — they’re afraid others will think less of them. I’m glad you’re noticing them, Shelly, in a good (helpful) way.
