Thanks for the Whole Thing

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLV)
In everything give thanks.

The Greek work for “everything” is pas. In simple terms, the whole thing–each and every part. Not just the dessert, but the whole meal–including the vegetables and salad.

Not just the happy endings, but our whole life story; in short, all of it.

  1. It is a tale too weird to tell,
    the arc of my life-story.
    Some was Heaven, some was hell,
    and all is damned to glory.
    I’ve worked in countries far away,
    to which troops we’d never send;
    at the end of blood-tinged day,
    not a place to recommend.
    But I also taught the young,
    and their eager questing minds
    defined my joy to be among
    believers that who seeks, finds.
    There was laughter, there were tears,
    and I’m just glad that I was here.
