Sheltering Leaders

Several organizations have declared Sunday, June 2, a day of prayer for the President of the United States. Scripture supports this:

1 Timothy 2:2 (ERV)
You should pray for rulers and for all who have authority. Pray for these leaders so that we can live quiet and peaceful lives—lives full of devotion to God and respect for him.

The Bible doesn’t say we have to like our leaders or agree with their policies. We are to shelter them with our prayer and thus shelter our own faith.

From Franklin Graham:

“This is a critical time for America. We’re on the edge of a precipice. Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the President. We know that God hears and answers prayer. He can soften hearts and change minds. He is all-powerful, and He rules over the affairs of nations.”

Lord God, pour your wisdom and protection over our nation’s President and other leaders. Not my will, not their will, but Your will be done in America, as it is in heaven. Amen.
