Prayer for the Nations

Is there war on the horizon?

God knows.

Psalm 33:10-12 (ESV)
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
the plans of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!

Pray for the nations:

Your will be done, Lord.

Pray for Love

Matthew 5:44 (ERV)
Love your enemies.
Pray for those who
treat you badly.

OK, I can pray for my enemies. But when I do, I must also pray for myself — because loving them doesn’t come easily!

Pray with Love

You probably know this children’s song:

“Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so.”
Anna Bartlett Warner, 1859

Maybe you’ve sung it.

I learned this version many years ago.

“I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus likes to hear me say
That I love Him every day.
Yes, I love Jesus . . .
In prayer I tell Him so.”

I wish I could give credit where it’s due, but I have no idea who wrote it.

Maybe you want to pray its message with me.

I love you, Jesus!

Pray to Love

Jesus said,

John 13:34 (CEV)
You must love each other,
just as I have loved you.

O Lord, teach me to love!

Love to Pray

February 14.
Valentines Day.

A perfect day for a little talk with Jesus.
I talk, he listens.
He talks, I listen.

Song of Songs 2:8 (GW)
I hear my beloved’s voice.
Look! Here he comes.

Jesus loves me (and you)!

Prayer for Such a Time as This

In the book of Esther, we find Mordecai urging Esther to use her influence with the king to save her people.

Esther 4:14 (NIV)
Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?

Such a time as this. Here and now. Current events. Dramatic change. What an extraordinary time it is!

Who knows but that God has put us here to pray for such a time as this?

There’s Always Time for Prayer

Back when I was a kid, I heard many a TV commercial claim, “There’s always room for Jello.” And yes, even a big meal left enough room for a bit of fruity sweetness.

Likewise, there’s always time for prayer. No matter how fast you’re going, how much of your to-do list is still undone, and how late you are for a meeting — there’s always room for prayer.

Help me, God.

Thank you, Lord.

Bless them, Father.

Rushed Prayer Time

Yesterday we thought about sweet hours of prayer. Today we focus on frantic moments.

David shared one such moment:

Psalm 70:1 (NIRV)
Please, God, rescue me!
Lord, hurry and help me!

Long and sweet. short and frenzied – God’s listening.
