I’ve been reading from the book of Isaiah. I’m always amazed by the prophet’s inspired choice of words.
Isaiah 28:17 (NIV)
I will make justice the measuring line
and righteousness the plumb line …
Our house started out as a hand hewn post-and beam barn. I don’t think the builder had a plumb line (a long string with a weight on the end, used to keep walls perfectly vertical). I don’t hold it against him; he didn’t know his barn would be turned into a home.
My life is a bit like my house — a bit off-kilter.
Good morning, Lord. Forgive me for bending Your rules to fit the circumstances. I sometimes finagle things to my advantage and favor the folks who can do something for me. Keep me on the straight and narrow, for Your name’s sake, amen.

Love this for today ! A great way to look and describe our lives I think the world is off kilter. I often think of my mom saying when I get straightened around.

I loved this! My dad was a carpenter and used those levels with the bubble that rested in the middle if the surface was level. We found a hat for him that had one of those bubble features and said, Just one bubble off. He loved to wear it and loved his Lord. Your devotion brought back great memories of him this morning. Thanks for that blessing.
Ah, the level with a bubble. We have a couple of those.
I hung a picture on one of the quirky walls in our house. Every time either of us walked by, my husband or I would tweak it just a bit. Handy hubby decided to settle the matter for good. He brought in the bubble level and set the picture right with the world. We both said, “That looks wrong!” We settled on a placement that looks OK to the eye 😀
