Last Sunday commemorated Pentecost, the anointing of the Holy Spirit as recorded in Acts 2 — the birthday of the Church (upper-case C, meaning all believers in Christ, over time and around the world).
“Without the Spirit of God we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind or chariots without steeds. Like branches without sap, we are withered. Like coals without fire, we are useless.”
Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)
Happy birthday, Church! God gave us the gift of power.
Good morning, Lord. Thank You for the wisdom of the Father, the love of the Son and the power of the Spirit — at work in Your people, at work in me. Every day, everywhere, You are with me and in me. I am not alone.
