Excellent Self-Talk

 

The Bible sets a high standard for what I think and say to myself;

 

 

Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

My self-talk should be true and honest, but also pure and noble. I can look for the good, acknowledge the bad and strive for the best, knowing that God is always listening.

 

Good morning, Lord. Focus my thoughts and words on what is right and good — forgive me for my negativity. Teach me to speak encouragement to myself and others, fill my mouth with excellent and admirable ideas. Keep me honest, Lord, able to acknowledge my sin without getting stuck in it. Let me put off what drags me down and concentrate on what builds me up.
