Great Gratitude

“The greatest saint in the world is not he who prays most or fasts most; it is not he who gives alms, or is most eminent for temperance, chastity or justice. It is he who is most thankful to God.”

William Law (1686-1761)

When his political views prevented him from serving as a priest, William Law became a writer. If he’d become a priest, we might have missed out on his wisdom.

Amen, Shirlee. “Wisdom” from friends (I believe even strangers are ‘friends’ we’ve yet to meet). Although I’ve never met William Law this side of Heaven, I hope to be his friend one day when I step from earth into eternity.
Thank you for sharing this wisdom with us this morning. I am thankful to God for everything He has blessed us with, and that includes you for being my true ‘friend’.

Thank you, my friend. I study the words of these ancient saints, looking for memorable and inspiring phrases (things I wish I’d said!).
