Modest Prayer

John 3:30 (NIV)
He must become greater;
I must become less.

Lord Jesus, may the people I meet see
less of me and more of You.

  1. As I gaze in the looking glass,
    as I face my fears,
    may the longed-for come to pass
    as the face of God appears.
    Let it be what others see,
    this new face now reflected
    that in death brought victory
    to those the world rejected,
    and in His loving kindness
    stooped low to lend a hand
    to those lost in blindness
    in a dark and chartless land.
    Make me, Lord, what I behold,
    Your true child, as saints foretold.
