Dueling declarations make the news. Here’s the theme, coming from both sides of almost every issue:
- “We’re right.”
- “Anyone who disagrees with us is all wrong.”
Only God is 100% right, all the time. The rest of us could be wrong.
That’s just (morally good) news.
I don’t think I’m always right,
but never have been wrong,
for I am simply just too bright,
an intellect too strong
to fall into that shocking pit
of ignorance (so crass!)
and by silly happenstance
make of myself an ass
by speaking that which is not true,
or spreading errors gross;
I therefore, submit to you
(and please do not be cross)
that you should heed that which I say
for my way is the only way.
I used to tell my children, “I’m right 100% of the time, and that’s a conservative estimate.” Your version, Andrew, is much more poetic.
