Jesus experienced the warm, dark womb
and the cold, dark tomb–
the start and the end of life:
Hebrews 4:14-15 (MSG)
Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality.
The start now seems so far away,
and the end so very near
that I can only kneel and pray,
“God, help me in my fear!
I trust that I will be with You
when this ordeal is done,
but dread that which I must go through
before this race is run.
The pain that I must yet face
chills me to the very core.
I can only ask for grace,
and, yes, for one thing more:
that humour be my legacy
when I share Your victory.”
My husband says he isn’t afraid of death, but he is afraid of dying. I think he’s right. “To live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). But the process of dying can be painful and chilling. Our prayers are with you, Andrew. Bless your soul!
Thank you, and bless you!
