Our Russian pilgrim from yesterday’s post found the key to continuous prayer. He happened on a wise man who taught him The Jesus Prayer. His mentor advised him to first say it 3,000 times a day, then 6,000 times, and eventually 12,000 times a day.
Thousands seems over the top. But anytime you lack words, give these a go:
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me
or the slightly longer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
A much treasured prayer.
