Discipled, Discipling

The Greek verb mathéteuó is “to be a disciple” or “to make a disciple.” How does it apply to you?

  • I am being discipled
  • I am making disciples
  • Both of the above
  • Neither of the above

Disciple as a verb includes growing in knowledge of God’s Word and developing the lifestyle it requires. Being discipled implies you are continuously studying the Scripture and putting it into practice.

Putting it into practice includes passing it on.

Being a disciple, making disciples–you can’t have one without the other.

  1. I used to say that I’d disciple,
    and help other grow in faith
    before the muzzle of my rifle;
    thus, they did what I doth saith.
    But since, I’ve learned another road
    to bring the sinners to the light;
    as black-belt in Tae Kwon Do,
    I challenge ratbags to a fight.
    When done, I will not hesitate
    to hear excuses for their sins
    but usually I have to wait
    until they’re conscious once again.
    I know this was the right decision
    ’cause of what I’ve saved on ammunition.
