Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)
For to us a child is born . . . And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Counselor – Holy Spirit. Everlasting Father – Father God. Prince of Peace – Jesus.
Mighty God – all of the above.
Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
The name – singular. Father, Son and Spirit – one God.
This Christian stuff is pretty nifty,
all ’bout love and salvation,
and I see they’re kinda thrifty,
three Gods for the price of one.
Used to be there was pantheon,
the way that I hear tells,
and if there’s a god you counted on,
you insulted someone else.
Here it’s more like family,
and the Bible’s biographia;
the inner working’s a mystery,
and it’s kind of like the mafia.
There’s really not that much to lose
with an offer that you can’t refuse.
God’s got an offer you can’t refuse . . . and my heart aches for those who do.
