We pray for wisdom, hoping God will drop it straight down from heaven–from His hand into our heads. But we already hold it in our hands, in the words of Scripture:
James 3:17 (ESV)
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable.
James’ words take us back to Jesus’ words:
Matthew 5:8-9
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
What passes for wisdom down here is often short on purity and peace. Keep looking up!
Now the tumours have my voice
and the rest of me is quite undone.
Forgive me, God, I have no choice
but to look out for Number One.
I’ve given all I have to give,
and have run through theology,
and there’s little left in which to live
in nodding to Your casuistry.
The days have narrowed to an edge
from which it is an easy fall.
I fought it hard, but cannot pledge
that I shall not lose it all.
I’m sure one day we’ll talk again
beyond this darkling vale of pain.
Your friends, me included, are praying for your journey through “this darkling vale of pain.” Bless your soul, Andrew.
Thank you so much. Means a lot.
