Labor Day–a Monday holiday here in the USA–marks the end of summer and honors honest work. Vacation is over, we’re on the job.

Work is good, or so they say,
but effort can be brutal,
so here is my best-spent day:
feet up, mind in neutral.
I think that I was born to be
an overseer, with a whip,
upon a tower, far to see,
and isn’t that a trip!
Let others labour earnestly
(another mai-tai, please!)
while I do my share virtually
from a place of ease.
And when my tiring day it’s done,
join me downtown for some fun!
Surely you jest, Andrew! You do good work virtually, and I know it isn’t from a place of ease.
