My Way or the Highway

“OK God,” you say, “if You won’t give me what I want, I’ll just leave.”

Where you gonna go?

Psalm 139:7-10 (NLT)
I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me.

  1. I thought I’d make my own way,
    removed from God and man,
    an ascetic’s lonely highway,
    a rebel with no plan.
    It daylight it was easy,
    though the road grew rougher still;
    my heart was young and breezy,
    with a proud untested will.
    And then came the stormy night
    and the road just disappeared;
    in its place, unholy light,
    and the sum of all I feared.
    I turned, and found that I could hide
    behind He who never left my side.
