Simply Sad

Walter William’s columns are on my must-read list. His wisdom routinely touches my heart. This time, his words break my heart:

“In 2016, in 13 of Baltimore’s 39 high schools, not a single student scored proficient on the state’s mathematics exam. In six other high schools, only 1% tested proficient in math. In raw numbers, 3,804 Baltimore students took the state’s math test and 14 tested proficient.”

Lord God, forgive us for failing to educate our children.

  1. The kids we have are sure no dummies;
    the morons live in admin block
    doin’ mental tricks like Sunday funnies,
    brains that neither close nor lock.
    They think it’s more important now
    to know gender pronouns (fifty-seven!)
    than to quietly explain just how
    seven and four make eleven.
    Sensitivity is the vital key
    to make sure that not one word sullies
    the goal of progressive society,
    and we really can’t offend the bullies.
    My simple plan would drive ’em wild:
    spare the rod, and spoil the child.
