Lord God, teach me to follow your roadmap
and not my own.
Psalm 23:3 (ESV)
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Isaiah 30:21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it.”
“How do I hear God’s directions?” you ask me. Start by studying the Bible. The word you hear behind you sounds a lot like Scripture.
I would walk the way He said,
and do what He would tell,
but didn’t think what lay ahead
was a tour of downtown Hell.
The miles and years have carried me
where I have not wished to go,
but this is not some tragedy,
for there’s so much I now know.
I learned that my dreams of old
were worthwhile, but not germane
and that to let my heart grow cold
would soon drive me insane.
I would not choose these paths again,
but know I’ve walked them with a Friend.
You never walk alone, Andrew.
