Goodness surely is still here,
and mercy, in a way,
but the vision isn’t clear
and I don’t see them every day.
Pain’s the touchstone of my life
granted by expediency
and the politics run rife
with an inclusive brutality.
The government will pay to change
a youth’s gender dysphoria;
for cancer patients they’ll arrange
a trip to crematoria.
Social justice is their goal,
but they’ve not reckoned the toll.
