Best-Dressed Memories

Remember your parents’ wise guidance.

Proverbs 1:8-9 (CEV)
My child, obey the teachingsĀ
of your parents,
and wear their teachings
as you would a lovely hat
or a pretty necklace.

Wisdom never goes out of style.

  1. I envy those who can recall
a childhood that was firm foundation
    and for memories, standing tall
in their loved and honoured station.
    Such a youth doth magnify
a sense of purpose and of place
and doth in its essence glorify
the Bringer of its holy grace.
I wish I could look back to this,
and feel the bracing of the years
whose steadiness is a kind of bliss
burnished with laughter, washed with tears.
There are no memories I might borrow,
so I’ll press on unto tomorrow.
