I envy those who can recall
a childhood that was firm foundation
and for memories, standing tall
in their loved and honoured station.
Such a youth doth magnify
a sense of purpose and of place
and doth in its essence glorify
the Bringer of its holy grace.
I wish I could look back to this,
and feel the bracing of the years
whose steadiness is a kind of bliss
burnished with laughter, washed with tears.
There are no memories I might borrow,
so I’ll press on unto tomorrow.
Godly parents are a gift from God, not to be taken lightly. But all of us leave a legacy of influence, for better or worse. Your influence, Andrew, is clearly “for better.” Thank you.
