My Father, who art in heaven,
Thank you for calling me by name.
Thank you for your coming kingdom.
Thank you for working your will in my life
here on earth as you do in heaven.
Thank you for my daily bread.
Thank you for forgiving my trespasses
(and for granting me grace to forgive others).
Thank you for leading me away from temptation
and delivering me from evil.
Thank you, Lord for every moment,
for the sorrow and the paint.
Thank you, Lord, for cancer’s torment
and for the strength to remain.
I question not Your will for me;
it’s You who can see down the road,
and with your choice I shall agree,
however burdensome the load.
Perhaps one day You’ll make it clear,
and reveal your master plan,
but I can’t know it, standing here
in the uncertainty of Man.
Stars grow dim, and the night’s so dark,
but I’m guided by Your holy mark.
“I question not Your will for me;
it’s You who can see down the road.”
Well said, Andrew! It’s only logical to trust the One who sees down the road and around the curve–and yet, I doubt and argue all too often.
