Abundantly Foolish

Proverbs 1:32
The complacency of fools will destroy them.

“Complacency,” shalah in Hebrew, means abundance, prosperity, security, peace, quietness.

It’s foolish to put your trust in your own prosperity, security, peace and quiet,  or abundance.

  1. All my life a fool I’ve been
    trusting in the sword.
And now, so late, I must begin
to have faith in the Lord.
The tools of war fall from my hands,
I cannot hope to wield them
    and only hope God understands
    that it’s not a coward’s phlegm.
The fate I dreaded now appears
    and my sole defense
    comes when my vision clears,
    and my Lord comes hence.
    My foolishness He doth forgive,
as He His life for me did give.
