In one country that welcomed my profession, we were hired to watch over the voting process.
It was certainly different. each voter was given a pebble, and dropped it into an old oil drum bearing the candidate’s picture.
Then the back of the voter’s hand was slashed with a panga, to prevent repeat voting.
The line stretched for a couple of klicks; this was one badass electorate, and they WERE going to have their say.
One person, one vote, literacy not required. A low-cost, workable plan.
