Even more, I think, the courage to face a world in which free will is required of us to choose God, and is thus allowed the rest of Creation…hence things like earthquakes and cancers.
For God to stay the hand of an unleashed Creation would be to stand against His own principles, and thus our choice of faith is made all the more meaningful by the monsters randomly roaming the dark.
From the mouth of Jesus: “In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). Whadaya know? Jesus is right. Again. As always.
