Morning Prayer: God’s Rules

Good morning, Lord. The Bible gives us rules to live by. Forgive me for thinking I know a better way — that attitude has gotten me into some sticky situations. All along, You’ve been showing me how Your rules keep me safe. Teach me to apply Your Word to my thoughts, words and deeds. Teach me to do things Your way, first time, every time.

Walk in Freedom

Forgive my foolishness and thoughtlessness. Thank You for sticking with me, even when I’m not sticking with You.

Morning Prayer: Rest

Good morning, Lord. Thank You for a good night’s rest. Thank You for the Sabbath rest from the workweek. Thank You for the seasons of rest You bring into my life. Teach me to embrace rest without guilt.

Teach me to make the most of rest without going overboard. Show me how to keep work and rest in proper balance, to work for Your glory and rest in Your everlasting arms.

Time for Rest

There were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his disciples didn’t even have time to eat. So he said to them, “Let us go off by ourselves to some place where we will be alone and you can rest a while.”

Jesus told his disciples, “Take time to rest.”

Is He saying the same thing to you? Make time to obey.

Morning Prayer: Righteous Paths

Good morning, Lord. As I sit here in the comfort of my couch in the early morning peace and quiet, I do not know what this day will bring. You do. Lead me away from temptation (Matthew 6:13) and guide me into paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3).

Protect me from my own bad choices. Show me how to encourage others by my example, words and actions.

Time to Watch and Pray

Temptations surround us.

Lord God, open our eyes to the plans of the enemy. Open our hearts to Your wisdom. Fill our minds with the truth of Your Word. Teach us to watch and pray–for ourselves and for those around us.
