In many American cities, homicide is the #1 cause of death for young black men. If we care about unborn black babies, we must also care about at-risk young adults.

Think it through. What might Dr. King think of the means and ends of the African-American abortion rate?
Martin Luther King Day on the heels of Sanctity of Life Sunday . . . it brings to mind the abortion of black babies.
I weep for 15 million mothers without hope and children without life.
Today is Sanctity of Life Sunday. There’s no better day to ponder the science of life. As more people test their DNA to discover the details of their backgrounds, we clearly understand that every cell in our bodies carries our unique code.
The womb is supposed to be a safe shelter for that unique DNA.
Thank you, Lord, for the unique code you place in each one of us. May we revere and appreciate the wisdom and love behind it.
Philippians 2:15 (CEV)
You live among people who are crooked and evil.
Or as the Amplified Bible puts it:
a [morally] crooked and [spiritually] perverted generation.
Clearly, less vice, crookedness and perversion is better–in me, and in our culture.
You may be familiar with the “virtuous” woman or wife “of noble character” in Proverbs 31:10. The Hebrew word, “hayil,” is often translated virtuous, noble, capable, valiant, excellent, strong, good, worthy.
According to Vocabulary.com, virtuous is “‘good‘ with a halo.” 
William Wilberforce, the man who pushed Great Britain to end its slave trade, longed for a society that worked . . .
“for the encouragement of piety and virtue; and for the preventing of vice, profaneness, and immorality.”
More virtue, less vice. That’s a cause we could all get behind.

No matter which side of the political divide we’re on, we’d like more virtue, less vice:

a ruler who takes bribes will bring it to ruin.
Let us pray that virtue prevails.
We’ve prayed for homeless people, persecuted Christians, victims of disaster and abuse, first responders, those who are dying. We asked God to shelter them in the midst of their troubles.
When we pray for ourselves, we often ask for shelter from trouble instead of shelter in trouble.
Lord, teach us to measure your love for us not by the absence of trouble, but by Your presence with us.
