Hear:
Psalm 139:4
Lord, even before I speak a word,
you know all about it.
Here:
Psalm 139:5
You are all around me, behind me and in front of me.
You hold me safe in your hand.
God calls. Are you a Samuel?
Or a Jonah?
1 Samuel 3:10 (ESV)
And the LORD came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.”
Jonah 1:1-3
Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh” . . . But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.
Hear, and here.
Is Venezuela on your prayer list? Consider moving it to the top.
You’ve probably heard about Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis. About food shortages. And hyperinflation.
Vernon Brewer, founder of World Help, explains in The Christian Post:
“One of our partners on the ground told us that last week he went to buy 3 pounds of ham at the store and he had to pay the equivalent of $17 for just a small portion of ham. And he went back this week and had to pay the equivalent of $86 for the same 3 pounds. So they’re experiencing 500 percent inflation every week.”
It’s a political crisis, and blockades are preventing food and other aid from reaching desperate people.
Lord, you see the need. You see the blockades. You see the waiting supplies. Intervene, in Jesus’ name.
A description of the Awakening in Northampton, Massachusetts:
“This work of God, as it was carried on, and the number of true saints multiplied, soon made a glorious alteration in the town: so that in the spring and summer of 1735, the town seemed to be full of the presence of God: it never was so full of love, nor of joy, and yet so full of distress, as it was then. There were remarkable tokens of God’s presence in almost every house.”
Jonathon Edwards (1703-1758)
A Faithful Narrative of the Surprising Work of God
It’s simple:
Matthew 6:33 (NIRV)
But put God’s kingdom first.
Do what he wants you to do.
Then all those things will also be given to you.
Woke. A wake-up call for social justice. What are you woke to?
Woke and Awakening. Sound similar?
Great Awakening described a time of religious revival. The First Great Awakening took place in the early 1700s. The 1790s brought a Second Great Awakening. These Awakenings changed the religious climate of the nation as thousands of individuals made personal commitments to God—that is, people “woke” to God.
We can debate the issues relating to border security. But we must agree on one thing: human trafficking for forced labor or sexual slavery is wrong.
“The United States is now a destination country and global slavery auction for thousands of men, women and children trafficked from all areas of the world, usually for the purposes of sexual and labor exploitation. Lured from their homes with false promises of well-paying jobs, they are forced into prostitution, domestic servitude, farm or factory labor, or other types of forced labor.”

Lord God, shine the light of your truth on this dark evil. Bring the perpetrators to justice. Set the captives free. Shelter their wounded souls, in Jesus’ name.
