I Tell the Story

I hear God’s story.
I read God’s story.
I tell God’s story.

Psalm 78:1-3 (NIV)
My people, hear my teaching;
listen to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth with a parable;
I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
things we have heard and known,
things our ancestors have told us.

Tell Me the Story

Can’t tell me the story too often. It gets better every time I hear it.

God Tells the Story

God tells the story in many ways.

Psalm 19 explains:

Psalm 19:1-2, 7,9 (NIV)
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge . . .
The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple . . .
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.

In the skies and in the Bible, God tells His story.

God’s Story

God’s Word, His story, the Bible — more complex than I can grasp.
The more I study, the more I know I don’t know.

1 Corinthians 13:12 (TPT)
My understanding is incomplete now,
but one day I will understand everything.

His Story

The Bible is more than history. It’s His story — the story of Jesus.

Jesus said so Himself, as He walked the road to Emmaus with friends after the resurrection:

Luke 24:27 (NIV)
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

His story, Genesis to Revelation.

History

The Bible is more than a good story. It’s history.

The history of the Jews.
The history of Christ’s years on earth.
The history of the early Church.

It’s the history of God’s eternal plan.

1 Corinthians 2:7 (NLT)
The wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began.

My Story

My story is written in the pages of the Bible.

Whence I came.
Who I am.
And where I’m going.

That’s my story.

A Good Story

I love a good story — one with a complex plot, intriguing characters, recurring themes and a happy ending.

The Bible has it all: a complex plot (good versus evil), intriguing characters (folks like Moses, David, Solomon, Esther, Peter and more), recurring themes (lost and found, truth and deception, wisdom and folly, destruction and restoration) and a happy ending (for faithful believers).

John 20:31 (NIV)
These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

God’s story is a good story.

Spiritual Fullness

Ephesians 3:19 (AMP)
. . . be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].

Strength, depth, perspective and fullness — yes, please!

Spiritual Perspective

Ephesians 3:17-18 (NIV)
And I pray that you . . . grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

I have tunnel vision, Lord. I barely grasp the surface of the love of Christ. Give me eyes to see from Your perspective.
