Instrument of Peace

“Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.”
Prayer of St Francis (First published in 1912)

A musical instrument locked in its case makes no sound. Seeds still in the packet don’t produce a harvest.

Good morning, Lord. Give me eyes to see the world around me from Your viewpoint. Teach me to love others (even if I don’t like what they’re doing), to be kind (even when others aren’t being kind to me), and to speak words of encouragement (even when things look hopeless). Get me out of myself and into the world … to make it a more peaceful place.
