In the parable of the lost sheep, there’s a big celebration when the shepherd finds his wayward sheep.
Luke 15:6-7 (NIV)
Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
I posted a photo of our lost dog on social media. Once she was back home, I updated those posts. A host of folks I don’t even know responded with joy — an earthly peek into a heavenly reality.
Good morning, Lord. Scripture says the heavenly host rejoices when a sinner repents. Once upon a time, saints and angels sang and danced on my behalf. Wow!
Likewise, O God, may I rejoice whenever I hear that one who was lost has been found.

I am so happy this story has a happy ending!!!!!
And for now, the wandering pup lives with a tighter leash!
I love your devotions. Thank you for making it so that I understand and am able to grasp how great our God is. I am so thankful your dog was found! God bless you.
I’m thankful the dog is back, and I’m thankful her story helps you better understand God’s power and glory.
Hi Shirlee, I’m guessing you might get lots of these replies of folks whose hearts you have touched with your words this morning. My heart went immediately to the anchor of my hope for my son. That Jesus would do a miracle in his heart and mind and there would be great rejoicing in heaven one day soon over the return of my son, Nico, to faith.
I share your heart, Carolyn. We have a son who has cut off contact with us. Over the years, my prayer has changed from his reconciliation with us to his reconciliation with God — the one that counts for eternity.
I can relate to your heartbreak. Will pray for your son too! God does not fail! (Speaking of dogs, reminds me, He’s the “hound of heaven”.) Grateful your pup was found!
So happy your dog is back home! Rejoicing with you!!
Thank you, Penny.
