Fasting: More than Food

“Let the hands fast by being pure from plundering and avarice. Let the feet fast by ceasing from running to unlawful spectacles. Let the eyes fast, being taught never to fix themselves rudely on handsome faces, or to busy themselves with strange beauties . . . Let the mouth also fast from disgraceful speech.”
 St. John Chrysostom (349-407)

Good morning, Lord. May the words of my mouth be acceptable in Your sight
(Psalm 19:14). Let me fix my eyes on You and Your Word. May the work of my hands be honest and honorable. Let my feet walk in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Psalm 23:3). amen and amen.
