What Are You Changing for Lent?

Lent begins today. It’s the season of fasting, right?

Not necessarily.

Isaiah 58:6 (MSG)
This is the kind of fast day I’m after:
to break the chains of injustice,
get rid of exploitation in the workplace,
free the oppressed,
cancel debts.

Maybe Lent is a time to do something new. Maybe it’s time for a change.

Good morning, Lord. You gave up the glories of heaven to come to earth and change our world. You call me to make changes — to give up what isn’t good and take up what is better. What is it You want me to put aside this Lenten season, and what do You want me to take up?

Change my heart, O Lord, change my actions, change me — for the better.
