I’m trying to have an honest conversation with myself about racism.
I thought about my ten years in the Medical Staff Office of a hospital. Certainly, I sorted doctors into categories:
-
-
-
- Specialty–surgeons, internists, radiologists, etc.
- The old guard and the newcomers
- Those who never missed a deadline, those who needed a nudge, and those who had to be nagged
-
-
Even though I was the keeper of information on their ethnicity and education, it wasn’t on my radar. There was no time for that.
