The Apostle Paul was arrested on trumped-up charges and made his case before Felix, the Roman governor.
Acts 24:25 (NLV)
Paul spoke about being right with God . . . He spoke about standing before One Who will tell us if we are guilty. When Felix heard this, he became afraid and said, “Go now. I will send for you when it is a better time.”
Perhaps Felix was plugging for a bribe. Maybe he was too terrified to change. Maybe he wanted to pretend he’d never heard about God.
Time is short. Don’t be like Felix. He missed the opportunity of lifetime.
My friend, I’m really grateful
that you want to share your God,
but these days are now quite fateful,
and the clock’s a cattle-prod.
There are some deals we’re making,
so my time is really short,
and on this undertaking
I must truly be alert.
But have your people contact mine
so you can tell me of this power
that proceeds from the divine;
you can have a quarter-hour.
No, wait! I’m going to be in Rome,
but we can talk when I get home.
Thank you, Felix (aka Andrew), for this poetic insight into your hefty schedule. Sorry to say, my ancient friend, your trip to Rome was a bust.
Maybe Vegas, then?
