Here’s some wisdom on plans and thoughts from the book of Proverbs–good, bad and best.
Proverbs 12:5 (NIRV)
The plans of godly people are right.
Proverbs 15:26
He [The Lord] also hates hearts that make evil plans.
Proverbs 19:21
A person may have many plans in their heart.
But the Lord’s purpose wins out in the end.
If this be God’s plan for me,
I’ll say I’m not impressed.
I must work now with urgency,
for my time is sore compressed.
I had some long-range writing goals
that I thought were pretty cool,
but now I’m stuck in short-term shoals,
and feeling like a fool.
I suppose He’ll use my poems
for some unfathomed cause,
more useful than my novel-tomes,
and conforming to His laws.
I’ll obey as though I were a Prussian,
but when we meet, there’ll be discussion.
It’s not “Leaves of Grass” or “Where the Sidewalk Ends” or “The Cat in the Hat.” Your poetry is a 21st century take on old cadences, worthy of reading and re-reading.
Thank you so very much for this. You’ve brought light to a dark day.
Andrew I check each day to see if you have commented on Shirley’s posts. I’m sure there are others.God knows what he is doing. Have a blessed day. Also Shirley love your site.
Elizabeth, golly…I am so very, very honoured.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for your kind words–to me and to my good friend, Andrew. I’m honored that his words grace my website.
