John 14:13 (NIV)
And I will do whatever you ask in my name,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
“In Jesus’ name” isn’t the magic phrase to make God do your will. They’re our words of submission as we seek God’s glory instead of our wishes.
In Jesus’ name I’ll work my will;
mountains shift and pigs will fly,
oceans, they will storm and still
and all my enemies will DIE!
Whoa, there, dude, just what was that?
This isn’t how the whole thing works?
Being part of God’s own apparat,
I thought for sure I’d get the perks.
So now, you say, I have to pray
that my wants are His desires?
And I can’t make foes go away
with my heaven-sent hell-fires?
Well, this sucks, I’ll tell ya, friend…
but you say it’s worth it in the end?
Yes, Andrew. It is worth it in the end. But you already know that.
Yep! 🙂
