Saul was on a road trip for the purpose of persecution. In his mind, he was on a mission to do God’s will.
Acts 9:1-3 (GW)
Saul kept threatening to murder the Lord’s disciples. He went to the chief priest and asked him to write letters of authorization to the synagogue leaders in the city of Damascus. Saul wanted to arrest any man or woman who followed the way of Christ and imprison them.
God used His light, voice and power to get Saul’s attention and turn his plan upside down.
What speed bumps has God used to redirect your plans?
Perhaps more often after Mass
I should have genuflected;
that might have saved my silly a**
from getting re-directed.
I really am just kidding here;
God’s plans outshone my own,
how I’m living cancer makes it clear
that for this, I was bred to bone.
To my absolute surprise,
my faith grows stronger every day
and I have no anguished ‘why’s;
this is just God’s state of play.
I love my life, and compared to this
my aspirations, they were meaningless.
I love your wisdom here, Andrew: “To my absolute surprise, my faith grows stronger every day.” Hard times grow our faith; when things are going well, we tend to take the credit and forget God. Bless your soul!
I’m honoured!
