Simply Unselfish

It’s simple. You can’t be selfish and obey
commands #1 and #2.

Matthew 22:37-39  (NIRV)
Jesus replied, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind.’ (Deuteronomy 6:5) This is the first and most important commandment. And the second is like it. ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ ” (Leviticus 19:18)

God first, then others. Self last–unselfish.

  1. I love my neighbours, some of them,
and some, well, I’ll take a miss.
Perhaps it’s best to not condemn,
    but to invoke cold prejudice.
I’ve seen them do this and that,
    such not to mention here,
    guided by the apparat
    whose dictates are quite clear.
    Perhaps loving them is sensible,
    in a moral monochrome;
    what they did was reprehensible,
so it’s time to send them Home.
Don’t know how it squares with Lord of Hosts,
but it lays to rest unquiet ghosts.

The ‘apparat’ is the administrative system of a communist party

  2. That actually might have been one of my mates…
