I don’t remember who said this, but the message stays with me:
We humans often take credit for God’s work.
We think, “Praise us from whom all blessings flow.”
Been there, done that.
I was wrong, Lord.
The credit is all yours.

True – but it seem like we’re doing the heavy lifting sometimes, as per Housman:
These, in the day when heaven was falling,
the hour when Earth’s foundations fled,
followed their mercenary calling,
and took their wages, and are dead.
Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
they stood, and Earth’s foundation stay.
What God abandoned, these defended,
and saved the sum of things for pay.
I heard a rumor that Atlas was doing the heavy lifting.
Yeah, but when I’m in the ‘roid room I can outlift him.
And I didn’t even need ‘roids! (Chest fills out, muscles flex, and while looking at his passing reflection in a window, Andrew walks into a wall.)
I too have walked into walls while admiring my reflection. Friday’s post on “pride goes before the fall” could be rephrased, “Pride goes into the wall.”
