I think it’s often not popularity we seek, but a hewing to a certain self-image that may be popular within our peer group, or the antithesis of those current temporal paradigms. Do we cast ourselves as rebels or hipsters?
Either way, it’s a mirror in which we see ourselves, and rather obscure the Almighty.
I agree, Andrew. We want our group’s approval, whatever the group. The Almighty’s approval is the only one that really counts.
