Painful Compliment

Rock solid

Let’s see what deep thinker and writer, C. S. Lewis, says about pain. He wrote a whole book on The Problem of Pain. Here’s just one thought:

“We are . . . a Divine work of art . . . with which He will not be satisfied until it has a certain character. Here again we come up against what I have called the ‘intolerable compliment’ . . .  it is natural for us to wish that God had designed for us a less glorious and less arduous destiny; but then we are wishing not for more love but for less.”

bless much loved

Yes … Seems we ARE always under construction. I do feel that because I have always been a deep thinker (friends always called me too serious) that when I did hit bottom, looked around and saw no friends; no family; I at least had the insight to look up … Then inside my own heart. There I found anger, bitterness, insecurity, and more.
So I praise Him every day and I now understand the meaning of the scripture in James…Count it all joy when you are in trials…
