What have you done to get ready for Easter?
- I have candy for the baskets
- Cleaning for company
- I bought a beautiful dress
Lent isn’t about the food, the company or the clothes–unless, of course, you mean feasting on God’s Word, keeping company with the Holy Spirit and being clothed with righteousness.
Shirlee,
Your words have brought me peace this morning. I was grouchy about Easter this year, as my beautiful granddaughters are now living in another state and I am unable to join them for the holiday. I was focusing on all of the family traditions that I would be missing out on, instead of focusing on Jesus. I was also feeling guilty for these feelings. As I read your words I thought about having the time to focus on the word, be mindfully present with the Holy Spirit and be engulfed in prayer. Awe, the silver lining. I have decided to be thankful for the memories that I can make with the girls this summer and take full advantage of having the time to completely focus on our wonderful savior. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Hi Donna,
I’m sorry you’ll miss the celebration with your granddaughters. We will be fortunate to have our grandsons with us for Easter and the week following. I hope that you can find some long-distance ways to share your faith with them. May the Spirit fill you with some exciting ideas! Bless your soul.
